Ka(beer) Singh\’s Bandi (pun intended).. Udta Punjab + Devdas.. and a lot of cringeworthy stuff!! Kabir Singh review..

If you want to watch Udta Punjab + Devdas the South Indian style, and some violent college you- are-my-property-kind-of-a-love-story, do watch this!!!

The first scene itself begins with Shahid\’s character Kabir threatening a girl to take off her clothes at knifepoint.. How is rape any different?? He does many self-destructive, despicable and hurtful things like

1. Chasing his maid from his flat out of the society gates just for accidentally breaking a glass.

2. Kissing a girl who he barely knows, without her consent right in the middle of college campus in full public view.

3. Telling the girl of your dreams that I will kiss your mother and sister

4. Making her stay at a guys\’ hostel, apparently out of the care for her

5. Boasting about the fact that he had alcohol every time before he performed the more than 500 surgeries, without a single one going awry!

Strangest part of it all is that nobody seems to oppose him or thrash him black and blue, except for his father. As all this happens, the college authorities and the people around have fevi kwik between their lips and their eye lids.

For me, the movie\’s excessively long. If the smoking, drinking and the cocaine scenes would have been cut short, the movie would have been reduced to half its length. There is excessive abuse, verbal, mental and physical! Not a movie for the faint hearted for sure! It\’s really strange that the cuss words have been beeped randomly, there doesn\’t seem to be any logic behind blocking some and leaving the others.

Shahid Kapoor has definitely done cent per cent justice to the shady, self destructive, arrogant, angry character that he plays. But accepting such a movie was not something that you expect from Shahid. I wouldn\’t have mind if it was Salman.. that\’s almost like his real life!! Although the full movie story is a result of what Kiara Advani\’s character Priti does, there is very little scope for her in the movie apart from being Kabir\’s Bandi!! (pun intended). Didn\’t find a single song worth playing over and over in my head.

How long can you keep on crying for something that cannot be undone? some precious moments and consequently years of your and your near and dear ones\’ lives are destroyed in the meanwhile. There are countless examples of world renown personalities who have battled extreme situations in their lives. Is the movie trying to justify the kind of lifestyle that is depicted? And imbibe that it will someday get you the girl of your dreams?? Ranjhana was a similar story line, but no where it impacted the lives of the people around the protagonist.. If you want to see dying in undying love and dedication, see Ranjhana…

For all the people with a reaction, chill it\’s just a movie… And saying things like these..

Let me remind you, that people have been imitating movies since the times when a majority of the viewers of this movie weren\’t even born!! From committing suicides the Ek Duje Ke Lie way to robberies the Dhoom way!!
