This is the kind of movie if you want to relive the college and hostel life. Sushant Singh Rajput aka Anirudh and Shraddha Kapoor aka Maya separate after marrying and having a child for reasons the makers thought are best left to the the viewers\’ imagination. What starts as a medical emergency give rise to a a \”losers\” group college reunion, reigniting the memories that they created together.
Sushant Singh rajput with his guy next door look and acting skills comes out as natural as it can be. Shraddha too seems to be honing her acting skills a lot, to add to the grace of her looks, after her performances in Stree and Meter Gul batti chalu. She manages to do half the acting with her eyes alone…!! Varun Sharma of the Fukrey Fame lives up to his bubbly, true friend image. Naveen Polishetty of the AIB and half day office rant fame plays the acidic and aggressive guy of the bunch. A great start to his Bollywood career I say. Prateik Babbar\’s husky voice and an air of attitude depicts the villanish Raggie to perfection.
The story isn\’t one with a lot of twists and turns, suspense or romance. But it still manages to keep you hooked all the time. Probably, because of the fact that it could be story of anyone amongst us. And the climax might give you some dose of feel good factor. As far as the sports depicted in the film are concerned, most of them seemed rule book wise ok. Except for the fact that everyone is running on the same track in the relay race. Atleast the General Championship of a college wasn\’t all about dance competition like Student of the Year!! The detailing like Gold Spot, Campa, the dressing style are all reminiscent of the 1990s, where the film is based. By the way, why does everyone have to go bald as they reach even their 50s? Or so do the make up artists think…!! The movie is laden with some crisp dialogues. Songs are few and far between. However, I didn\’t anything worth humming over and over again. The background music at various ocassions has been nicely and aptly chosen. The direction, dialgoue, screenplay and story has been handled efficiently by Nitesh Tiwari to back his laurels of Dangal and Bareilly ki Barfi.
Go and enjoy this one with your buddies.. or if you have a college-friend-turned-life-partner !!
