I had binge watched a lot of web series of late for killing time, which predominantly had a lot of killings, hate and depression. Then I decided to \’aim a shot\’ at this one, after my wife casually mentioned it..
This is the story of two ladies whose lives are poles apart. One of them is Netra Patil (Rinku Rajguru) who has barely hundred days to live, as she goes on with her monotonous but information sensitive job, taken for granted only earning member in a family of four, insignificant member of Mumbai crowd of millions, having a crooked brain with tumour in it, and with with Switzerland and much more on her bucket list!! She is the girl next next door with an outspoken, blunt, devil may care attitude. The other lady is a high profile, talented, ACP Saumya Shukla (Lara Dutta), working hard to do some \’real work\’, but is instead allotted only \’safe assignments\’. Fate brings them together, and the series is about how they help each other deal with their respective problems, and how they enhance the quality of their lives.
Lara Dutta, the Miss Universe 2000, who has starred in films like No Entry, Partner and Don 2, has got this one under her (police) belt!! She has efficiently showcased disappointment with her job profile, frustration of the office politics, hate for misogynistic attitude, inability to live life on her own terms, with equal ease. You will be sympathetic towards her for the amount of efforts that her character puts in without getting any credit and the way she is reduced to the namesake ACP. Rinku Rajguru the teenager lead of the Marathi film Sairat, seems like she has continued from where she had left off in Sairat. The typical \’come what may\’ attitude gets multiplied due to the eye opening advice of Saumya during a chanced \’encounter\’. From there on, she prepares a bucket list, and is prepared to go to any length to make it happen, because now she no more fears for her life. The bubbly, confident, overzealous, chawl residing government employee and her mannerisms have been well depicted by her. Ruchi Narain and Taher Shabbir who have previously worked together for the Netflix original film \’Guilty\’ have teamed up together again exceedingly well with Ashutosh Shah, on this project as directors and producers. Karan Wahi, who has previously worked in couple of TV serials and two movies, features as the the undercover \” tenant cum informer\” to ACP Saumya. Sudhanshu Pandey is her over protective and patriarchal husband. Parmeet Sethi, the Kuljeet of DDLJ, who went on to act in a number of movies and tele serials, is Saumya\’s crooked minded boss. Rohini Hattangadi, a veteran in Hindi and Marathi cinema and theatre, is a pleasant surprise as the Mom. Makarand Deshpande, who has performed in more than five languages has a cameo as the illegal businessman.
The story reminded me of Bluffmaster and Ek Villain, wherein the leads after learning about their terminal illness, start living an altogether different kind of a life! This is probably the rarest of rare web series where there is no major male lead, and the whole team didn\’t need one to make the series a rocking one! The dialogues do crack you in the most unexpected scenes. It also gives us a altogether different perspective of the police force, broadening our stereotypical mindset. The first season consisting of eight episodes of 30-45 minutes each, premiered on Hotstar specials on 25th April 2020. So do give it a shot and do let me know how many marks do you give out of hundred??
Good one…. Will definitely see
Need to see this one.
