Kesari Review.. the one that left me red-faced because of the blood on screen and anger in the head!!

Akshay Kumar has done so many patriotic/larger than life movies in a row that it had become way too typecasting, and he was sure to falter at some point or the other. This was the breaking point!!

1.This was Lagaan in terms of the length of the movie that it was pointlessly stretched to!

2. Mohabbatein in terms of the sudden appearance out of nowhere, of Parineeti, like a mystical ghost and equally sudden disappearance, time and again in the movie!!

3. It was KGF in terms of the extreme incessant violence and pools of blood that ensue.

It leaves little scope for the rest of the actors. The movie doesn\’t get to the point till second half of the second half!!! If you want to increase your patience this movie is highly recommended. I mean what the hell was the screenplay writer thinking! There\’s the typecasted beheading of so called \”anti religion woman\”, typical accentuated British officers insulting Indian sepoys, and the typical battle Bollywood machoism that runs through the veins of the 21 men concerned. I mean even the typical-middle-east-blinded-by-religion-extremists wait for their turn so that Akshay Kumar will turn to them and killed them at the hands of His Highness!! There are no exquisite war sequences or carefully sort out action plans. Thankfully enough, there are only two songs in the movie and the torture remains restricted to two and half hours.

The role and its scope doesn\’t do any justice to Akshay nor does it to any othr actor. There\’s a repetitive background score which starts getting monotonous like the movie. Afganistan is a picturesque place, hut the cinematography doesn\’t do justice to that either. The dialogues aren\’t out of the world and don\’t incite or invoke any emotions in you!

On top of all this, I read that Sallu Miyaan was going to co produce this film. It couldn\’t have gone any worse with him anyway!! 😁😁😁

The actual movie apart, Saragarhi is a story of extreme valour shown by the then Sikh regiment and like many others, lost in the annals of our history. One must read about it…
